Two separate power outages in midtown Toronto have left thousands of residents without power. A hydro vault fire cut power to about 4,000 people living near Yonge and Eglinton Avenues, while a fallen tree on Chaplin Crescent near Avenue Road left an additional 250 homes and businesses without electricity.

The fire began around 5:30 a.m. at a hydro vault on Erskine Ave., near a cluster of condo buildings. Further west, the tree fell around the same time.
Officials expect the outages to last through the morning as workers attempt to repair equipment.
No injuries have been reported in connection with either incident.
