Finnish company launches 100 per cent biofuel trial
Labels: Diesel Fuel
“Neste Oil has launched trials of Neste Green 100 diesel in Finland. The eco-friendly fuel is made from 100 per cent renewable raw materials and free of any fossil oil components. Many Neste Oil stations in the country already offer Neste Green diesel, which contains a minimum 10 per cent renewable diesel blended with conventional diesel fuel.
The trial will include private individuals and Neste Oil employees. Neste employees will be the first to begin testing the fuel – they launched the trial on 26 April and will continue until Midsummer. Test drivers from outside the company will trial the fuel between mid-May and Midsummer. The Neste Green 100 diesel will be available at selected Neste Oil service stations in the greater Helsinki area.
Previous trials have shown that Neste Oil’s renewable diesel offers a 40-80 per cent cut in greenhouse gas emissions over its entire life cycle compared to fossil diesel. Tailpipe emissions are also lower. Neste Oil operates two refineries in Finland, located in Porvoo and Naantali. They have a combined crude oil refining capacity of 260,000 barrels a day...”
